Effects of B_2O_3 on the Hydrolization of the Phosphate Bioglasses Liu Qiuxia; Yan Yuhua(Assoc. Prof.,Dept. of Material &ience and Engineering,WUT,Wuhan 430070, China.) The hydrolization of the phosphate glasses containing B2O3 was studied by means of chemical analysis and thermal expansion and IR. The constituent-structure-property relationship of the glasses was discussed. When B2O3 was added to the Na2O-CaO-P2O5 system. B3+ ions exist mainly in the form of [BO4] tetrahedra which feint with[PO4] tetrahedra. The main structure of the glasses is the metaphosphate group. The anomalies were observed in the thermal expansioncoefficient and hydrolization. The glasses have not only certain biological activity but also certain chemical stability. boron-phasphate glass, IR, hydrolization
